Organic Peels

The Benefits And Potential Side Effects

What are peels?

Peels are a technique used to rejuvenate skin. Peels involve the application of a solution to remove the dead and damaged outer layers of skin. They improve and smooth skin texture and help to reveal younger, clearer, more radiant skin. Peels are traditionally performed on the face, hands, and neck to treat fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, and skin discoloration. Peels are also effective in treating mild scarring and acne.

How does a Peel work?

Peels work in part by producing a mild injury to the skin. The injury triggers the healing response resulting in healthier skin. The more severe the problem being treated, the deeper the peel needed. The deeper the peel, the longer the healing time and the higher the risks become. Peels involve the application of a solution to remove the dead and damaged outer layers of skin. Peels improve and smooth skin texture and help to reveal younger, clearer, more radiant skin.

How long do treatments take?

These treatments can be performed in about 30 to 45 minutes.

What are peels used for?

Peels are used to produce an improvement in overall skin health and appearance. Over the course of several treatments, a gradual improvement will occur in the color of skin, as uneven pigmentation decreases. You may also notice an improvement in texture with reduction of fine lines. Your skin should feel smoother.

Deeper peels can significantly reduce acne scarring and deep wrinkles. Microdermabrasion, lasers and the Intracel treatment are other treatment options for these skin conditions as well.

What peels do you offer?

Lina offers a herbal organic peel called 2B Bio Peel.

Peels are an excellent treatment for acne, because they dry up the oil glands that cause acne. They will also improve pigmentation and texture.

A single peel will leave your skin looking and feeling more alive, but, as with all peels, they must be done in a series to get the maximum benefit for skin color and texture. They should then be continued as a regular skin maintenance procedure.

What areas can be treated?

Any skin can be treated, but the most common areas treated are the face, neck, chest, and hands.

Who is a good candidate for peels?

Everyone can benefit from peels.

Advanced age, smoking, and excessive sun exposure can leave your skin severely damaged. If you experience any of these, you would be a great candidate for our organic peels. Peels should be thought of as partially restorative (returning skin to better health) but mostly a maintenance technique.

How are treatments done?

After cleansing the skin, the peeling substance is applied. This is left for a few minutes then another layer is applied, and so on. At each step, you will be asked how your skin feels. Treating the entire face and neck takes about 30-45 minutes.

What can I expect following a peel?

Most people have no problems following peels. No downtime is expected. There may be some dryness and flaking. There may be some redness and irritation but symptoms should not persist more than 6 hours.

How many treatments are required and how long do the results of peels last?

Beneficial effects of peels can be seen following the first treatment, but the results improve with each treatment.

Most people require 3-6 treatments for maximum benefit, but this depends on the severity of the problem being treated.

Peels do not provide permanent improvement and maintenance treatments are suggested at 3-month intervals. Again, this varies widely depending on the condition being treated. For example, acne patients might require monthly treatments.
