Laser Tattoo Removal – Ontario, Canada

Laser Tattoo RemovalA tattoo may have seemed like a good idea at the time, but if you regret having your permanent mark, then help is at hand. You can erase tattoo forever with laser tattoo removal. Laser tattoo removal is a safe and effective treatment that makes tattoos of all sizes and colors simply fade away.

Lina Diminno brings you the latest techniques, utilizing hi-tech laser equipment. Tattoos are treated with a specific laser that targets and separates the different colors. As tattoos vary in size, shape, density and color we recommend you book a consultation for a test patch to determine how may treatments you will need and how effective the treatment will be.

How Tattoo Removal Works

The ink in your tattoo can be broken down with a high energy burst of light. The length of time the light is pulsed for, gives a very accurate way of delivering an exact amount of energy. The high energy light breaks up the ink particles into tiny fragments which are carried away by the body’s waste removal systems. As the pigment is carried away, the tattoo gradually disappears. Simple tattoos may dissolve after two treatments, but usually four to eight treatments are required. This can be more for very large and complex tattoos.

The tattoo pigment injected into the lower layers of skin (the dermis) becomes sealed away by a tough collagen ring.

How is Laser different to other methods used for tattoo removal?

Laser Tattoo Removal Before After Laser Tattoo Removal Before After

It is very difficult to remove the tattoo pigment without affecting the surrounding tissue. The alternatives to laser treatment are, either to physically remove the pigment with the surrounding skin by surgical excision, or chemically destroy the pigment using concentrated salts or acid. In either case the surrounding skin is damaged and significant scarring would be an expected outcome to these, non-laser removal methods.

Lasers produce extremely short pulses of high-energy, light. This light is absorbed strongly by the tiny particles of tattoo pigment, but not very well by the surrounding skin. The tattoo pigment particles heat up and break down into smaller particles. Because the energy is selectively absorbed by the tattoo pigment, surrounding tissues are not heated up to such a high temperature and there is no lasting damage to the skin.

Can a tattoo be removed in just one treatment?

Only very rarely; some amateur tattoos may disappear after only a small number of treatments; professional tattoos usually take a higher number.

How many treatments will be required to treat the average tattoo?

Every tattoo is different and every individual responds differently. As a guide, amateur tattoos can take anywhere from 1-6 treatments; professional tattoos from 8-12, although they may take more than this. Without seeing the tattoo it is impossible to be more accurate and be able to give an estimate.

How long does the treatment take?

This depends on the size of the tattoo; a small tattoo might take 5 minutes, where a large, or multiple tattoos could take an hour or more of treatment. Again, the assessment will provide this information.

Does it hurt?

The amount of pain felt will depend on the type of tattoo, the amount of treatment required and your own pain threshold. Some clients would describe it as no more than uncomfortable, where others will describe it as an elastic band flicked against the skin.
